The Sweater Trend to Try Before Spring

January 24, 2017

I’m more than excited to be trading in my anoraks for leather jackets come springtime, but before the winter season is over, there’s one sweater trend I’ll be living in – balloon sleeves.

Bell sleeves made a case for themselves this fall, and balloon sleeves are going strong this winter. There’s something about the billowy flow of a balloon sleeve knit that serves up the perfect amount of feminine with a side of bohemian.

I’m wearing Free People’s All Mine sweater in ivory (also in red, deep teal, black and cognac) – a color that makes up most of my winter wardrobe. I love its flowy style (I recommend sizing down one full size) and the v-neck adds the perfect touch without exposing too much skin that you need a cami underneath or a scarf to keep you warm.

My husband is responsible for these amazing Blank NYC jeans that I paired my sweater with (I’ve trained him well), which are the best friend to all of my chunky heels and chelsea boots – the cut-out was literally made for them! I’m also wearing one of my favorite pairs of booties (now under $40) which I love pairing with ivories and beiges. They add a softer touch than a hard black and up close have such a unique ‘bronzed’ detail.

I love balloon sleeves too!! They’re so pretty! And they’re MUCH more practical than bell sleeves, even though those are pretty as well! This sweater is lovely!

  5. What a lovely sweater and I do love the sleeves! I too want a husband I can “steal” clothes from and wear them time to time. 🙂 Until then I suppose I have to have a look in my closet which is way too full of stuff I don’t even know existed, haha.

Ahh I love knits like these!!! It’s so funny that balloon sleeves are trending after bell sleeves. At least this trend wont be a hassle when it comes to food and washing your hands ?? I gotta try out this trend myself!

Oh my goodness, your husband is the man! Those jeans are absolutely killer with the cut detail on the bottom. I also really love those booties with the gold shift to them! You’re so right with how they are a nice twist to black, without being so harsh. So perfect to transition into Spring! You always rock the statement sweaters so well! So gorgeous!

  11. I’m still so iffy about statement sleeves, but I guess I need to try it myself first 😛

    • Danielle says:

Definitely! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been iffy about a trend and fell in love once I tried it. Balloon sleeves (compared to bell sleeves or ruffle details) are a great place to start!
