Making a Case for the Button-Up

March 28, 2017

Let me start off by saying that I’ve never been one to embrace a button-up. I’ve always felt like button-ups needed to be tucked in, and mastering the perfect tuck while dealing with the buttons that are totally misshaping the front of my shirt and making it look all funny has a hard no written all over it.

This cherry blossom print quickly caught my eye while browsing through Topshop’s latest styles, but my excitement went down the drain just as quickly when I saw that it was a button-up. Yet impulsive as I am, I had to give it a try; and I’m so glad I did.

While this top pairs beautifully with a pair of white slacks or a camel-colored pencil skirt for work, I also wanted to get more casual use out of it for the weekends. So for the first time, I said f-it, and refused to tuck in my button-up; and guess what? I loved it!

Wearing a button-up un-tucked or even giving the half-tuck a go is a great way to dress an otherwise polished button up down. I paired mine with a pair of raw-hem denim and my favorite boots of the season – feeling totally casual and comfortable.

So, rest assured, I make my case for the un-tucked button-up.

PS – this cherry blossom print also comes in a plisse style, in a tee, and in a pretty mint color!
