Happy Thursday! I was recently asked by one of my blogger babes Sylvia to share 12 facts about myself with you all. I loved the idea of doing this, since you rarely see what goes on behind the blog.

That being said, I do want to quickly tell you about this embroidered dress that I can’t stop wearing this Spring! If you’ve been hesitant about embroidery and whether or not this trend will wear well on you, this is the dress to try out! It’s flowy maxi style combined with its flattering empire waist and lace-up top makes it the perfect piece for every shape.

I’ve worn this to brunch and to an event, but it’s also perfect for a bridal/baby shower or even an upcoming summer wedding.

Letting you in behind all of the clothes and beauty products is something I’ve always been open to doing, but to be honest, I’ve always struggled with how to do it.

Of course, my goal is to show the down-to-earth, relatable side of me that is my everyday life behind all of the photos, but it’s sometimes hard to divide the fine line between what your readers want out of your brand and what they want out of you.

Regardless of what you want today though, I’m going for it ?

1. Many of you ask my nationality – I am Greek, Italian and Irish. The Italian comes from my mom’s side, and the Greek and Irish, my dads.

2. I’ve lived in New York for the majority of my life. I was born and raised in Long Island, in a gorgeous town right on the water on the North Fork. I grew up spending the warmer months out east at our family home in Montauk and no, the scene back then was nothing like it is out there today!

3. After graduating high school, I moved to Connecticut for 10 years where I went to college at Quinnipiac University and studied Education. I received my Master’s in Elementary Ed with minors in Psych and Criminal Justice.

4. I taught elementary school for 5 years in grades 2, 3 and 4 before deciding that I had just spent the last 10 years studying and working in a field that I couldn’t see myself loving the rest of my life. That prompted my career change and move back to New York!

5. My husband and I actually both attended Quinnipiac together and graduated in the same year. We crossed paths probably a million times without knowing it, and coincidentally didn’t meet for the very first time until I was in grad school, two years after we had graduated. We met at a bar called BAR.

6. I’ve suffered from anxiety since my sophomore year of college. One day, it just hit me like a ton of bricks, and I’ve been dealing with it ever since. Twice in my life it has caused me to take a semester from college and a leave of absence from my job (which was terrifying). I am a huge proponent of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) – it was totally my saving grace when I felt like I had no control over what was happening to me. I’ve learned so much from practicing CBT that has helped me to manage it today. I’ve come to the realization that it will always be a part of my life, some years worse than others, and it will always pass.

7. I was a gymnast for 9 years of my life and my specialties were floor and uneven bars. That led me to competitive cheerleading, where I spent a few years being thrown around up in the air. Our team placed 5th in the nation at Nationals.

8. Speaking of cheerleading, a stunting accident landed me 40 stitches and a lengthy scar down the right side of my jaw. My teammate and I collided from a hard impact, her braces caught on to the side of my face, and the rest is history. Holy shit, I know. Thanks to a great plastic surgeon, it’s barely visible today.

9. I was born with my right hip rotated inward, so I walked slightly pigeon-toed when I was little ?. I grew out of it by elementary school, but I can still rotate my right foot completely inwards and backwards. It’s a great party trick.

10. My family and I absolutely love Disney World. My first trip was before I could even walk! We still try to spend at least a week there every year, and love attending the Food + Wine Festival. We’ve never stayed anywhere BUT the Polynesian Hotel.

11. I love to garden. I always thought that was such an ‘adult’ hobby! My dad has always had a green thumb, and as I got older, I started to want to experiment on my own. My husband and I have a fairly large garden at the house and look forward to planting every year. There’s something so cool and rewarding about being able to grow your own fruits + veggies from start to finish. We’re giving bok choy a go for the first time this year.

12. I am DEATHLY afraid of house centipedes (I have the chills just writing those two words). When I see them, my whole body goes stiff and the gag reflex kicks in. Don’t google it if you don’t like bugs.

God, it’s hard to talk about yourself. Anyone feel me on that one? Loved being able to share some more with you though, and hope to continue to do so in small doses throughout my posts.
