One of the questions I often get asked by my readers is what I do outside of blogging. When I’m not planning my seasonal wardrobe or content creating, I actually work a full-time job in marketing and design!
Being in a corporate environment doesn't have to translate to a boring wardrobe, although when I first transitioned into this type of atmosphere, I did struggle with finding the right pieces to wear that I could also wear outside of work.
This season, I'm partnering with Express to share some of my favorite wearable workwear; versatile pieces that are great for the office, but that also don't have to get hung up for the weekends.
Wearable Workwear
TIP 1:
Look for everyday basics that can be mixed, matched + accessorized
While I love a statement blouse for work, I most often gravitate towards everyday pieces that I can not only mix and match with different work outfits, but I can also bring into the weekends with a pair of jeans.
Right now, I'm loving Express' turtleneck sweaters! I picked up mine in 3 colors, and it's been perfect with straight leg slacks, pencil skirts, wide leg culottes - you name it.
TIP 2:
Compliment your basics with prints
Each season, I invest in a few pieces from a seasonal trend I'm loving. This Fall at Express, we're seeing a ton of plaid, and so I've brought a few pieces into my wardrobe that are not only office appropriate, but that I can also wear out to date night or a dinner with friends.
TIP 3:
Add a third piece
The idea of adding a third piece to your look almost always solves the “what is this outfit missing?” question. Add a third element to your top and skirt/pants like a jacket, blazer, vest or statement accessory.
It was love at first sight when I laid eyes on this teddy coat! Also love this faux fur jacket under $100 as a third piece.
