Best Jeans for Spring 2020
You already know how I feel when it comes to jeans. With probably 75 pairs of denim in my rotation (it sounds so ridiculous typing that out, I know), I've got you covered, girlfriend.
There's something about a great pair of denim. Dress it up with heels and a blouse, dress it down with sneaks and a tee - denim is the every girl. While I've definitely warmed up to skirts and dresses over the past few seasons, denim will forever be my first choice.
The other day I polled you on IG Stories about what you were shopping for right now. The overwhelming response? DENIM.
So we're tackling our latest edition of The Denim Edit and I'm rounding up my top picks for best jeans for Spring 2020. I recently did a major clean out (jeans included), so today's post is all about the pairs I'm carrying into the new year with me because they're THAT good.
A quick note about spending when it comes to denim: Most (not all) jeans are a splurge for me (over $100). I'm a denim girl. It's the one article of clothing that I always reach for first, and that makes me feel my best. In my opinion, there's nothing better than a great pair of jeans, which is why I tend to spend when it comes to denim. That being said, I also have some under-$100 and under-$40 pairs in today's post!
Row 1
AGOLDE 90s High-Rise Loose Fit in Fall Out [$$$] - AGOLDE has been a life-changing denim brand for me. Okay, dramatic (yes), but seriously. I splurged on these jeans in early 2019 and haven't looked back. I recommend sizing down (I'm between a 28-29 and wear these in a 27 for my most comfortable fit). Being 100% denim, your first wear might feel a little tight, but rest assured they'll stretch to the perfect fit. Better to be tight with these because they have a lot of give once broken in.
AGOLDE 90s High-Rise Loose Fit in Fall Out [$$$] - This is the same style as above in a white wash. I have a 28 in the white, just because I usually prefer my white denim to be a little looser-fitting. I know white jeans is a big topic of discussion come Spring. Instead of investing in 3 decent pairs, invest in this one - I promise it'll be all you'll wear!
AE Mom Jean in Uber Cool [$] - These are my most-recommended pair of budget-friendly denim! The straight fit is one of the more flattering mom-styles I own, and they're a great mid-wash for Spring and Summer. I recommend sticking true to size, or sizing up if in between (I wear an 8 in these). The jeans come in short, regular and long. Being 5'6", I like the fit of the short style best. They hit perfectly mid-ankle and go great with boots at this length.
Row 2
AGOLDE Jamie High-Rise Classic in Shakedown [$$$] - Another pair from AGOLDE that's a great-fitting lighter wash for Spring. This style runs a bit snug IMO, so I recommend sizing up (29 is snug but still works for me).
Madewell 11" High-Rise Skinny Jeans [$$] - Skinny jeans are my least worn style of denim, simply because I prefer the fit of a straight jean for my body type. That being said, you always have to have 1 or 2 great pairs of skinny jeans on rotation! I love this darker wash from Madewell, and they're a great style for a nicer dinner out or even a casual Friday at work. I wear a 29 in most skinnies from Madewell and prefer the looser fit.
AGOLDE Riley High-Rise Straight Crop [$$$] - Similar to the Jamie High-Rise, the Riley is a great white denim cropped style that has a bit of a straighter fit for Spring. This style runs a bit snug IMO, so I recommend sizing up (29 is snug but still works for me).
Row 3
Abercrombie Ultra High-Rise Straight Jeans [$$] - I just recently picked up this style in 'Ripped Light Wash' and oh my goodness - they're a win. The wash is so nice in person (it's a smidge lighter than it appears on the website) and the fit is great. I went for a 29 in these because of the higher waist, and they are a little loose on the waist but fit the booty great.
Madewell Perfect Vintage Jean in Rosabelle Wash [$$] - This is a great lighter wash Spring style with minimal distressing that will go perfectly with white sneaks and a tee! I don't have this exact style but have an almost identical pair in the "Perfect Vintage" fit from last season which is one of my most-worn pairs of jeans. I wear a 28 in that style, and assume that this is similar fitting.
Abercrombie High Rise Mom Jeans in Medium Wash [$$] - These are a great mid-darker wash mom style. My only complaint is that damn thigh rip! It's a bit too high for me, but still love the denim. I wear a 29 in these because of the higher waist.
Row 4
Levi's 501 Crop in Montgomery [$$] - These are a recent Spring addition to my closet after another blogger's recommendation and I am SO pleasantly surprised! I own just about every Levi's style out there, and I can't believe I was missing this one. As a rule of thumb, unless it has elastane content, I always size up to a 29 or 30 in Levi's. I got this size in a 29 and although loose on the waist, they fit the booty great (where my girls at who deal with that annoying waist gap?!)
AGOLDE 90s Mid-Rise Loose Fit in Captured [$$$] - These are essentially the same style as the first two pairs in the top row, although considered a "mid-rise". They're definitely not a mid-rise...think of them as a classic high-rise fit. Just picked up this lighter wash for Spring in a 28. Love them.
J.Crew 10" Highest Rise Toothpick Jean [$$] - Another great straight leg style (I wear this with OTK boots in the Winter), and the exposed button detail adds a cool touch. I have both a 28 and 29 in these and prefer the fit of the 29.
