01. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!
One of the most important things you can do for your skin is to keep it hydrated. I make it a priority to drink plenty of water throughout the day (as much as it's overhyped, I really do rely on my Stanley Quencher) and use a hydrating moisturizer that's suited for my skin type.
I love the Summer Fridays Dream Oasis Serum because as a serum, it feels weightless on my skin but still packs a punch in terms of hydrating. The combo of glycerin, hyaluronic acid and squalane is perfection and I actually prefer to use this as my AM moisturizer, especially in Spring & Summer.
02. Don't skip a Vitamin C serum
Vitamin C is one of those things I totally didn't see the importance of until my early 30s but let me tell you...it makes a difference. A quality Vitamin C has powerful antioxidant properties that help brighten skin and even out complexion, reducing the appearance of dark spots and hyperpigmentation. It's also great for locking in moisture and boosting your skin's natural collagen production.
I am a ride-or-die for Colleen Rothschild's Vitamin C products and have been loving her new brightening serum (which is an updated version of the serum I used to use daily). I've had the privilege of trying this out prior to launch and the new formula is amazing. Colleen Rothschild's Vitamin C products are formulated with THD Ascorbate which is a highly potent & stable form of Vitamin C that's known for being gentle on the skin while delivering great results (PS - I learned all of this in a Masterclass with Colleen and my mind was 🤯).
If you're looking for a PM Vitamin C, try this one! My code DG20 always works for 20% off full-priced items.
03. Exfoliate regularly
Dead skin is real, friends. I exfoliate 1-2x per week with a lactic acid and dermaplane my face every 1-2 weeks. When used in conjunction, these make such a difference in keeping my skin radiant & smooth.
My go-to lactic acid which I've been using for years is Good Genes by Sunday Riley (I always take advantage of the discount on this for the Sephora Sale because it's pricey!). Lactic acid's claim to fame is its skin resurfacing properties, that helps promote the shedding dead skin, giving you a smoother, glowier appearance.
As far as dermaplaning goes, I've always felt it was easy enough to do at home with a few caveats: 1) make sure to hold your tool at a 45° angle and work in short strokes so you don't nick your skin and 2) if you're using a reusable blade, always sanitize your tool before and after. I've always used Stacked Skincare's dermaplaning tool (refills here) and prefer this over the cheaper throw-away dermaplaners.
04. Try a facial mist
Facial mists are a great hack for keeping skin hydrated throughout the day, especially if you're prone to drier skin. I keep Fresh's Vitamin C Skin Nectar in my bag and also swear by this when traveling! A quick on spritz throughout the day gives my skin a quick pick-me-up.
05. Protect your skin
I can't reinforce this one enough - always wear sunscreen. There is so much harm we're exposing our skin to on a daily basis when we skip a daily SPF. I love Elta MD's UV Clear Broad-Spectrum SPF 46 for my daily sunscreen and Tula's Protect & Glow for Summer beach days (Code DANIELLE15).
