My Fall Capsule Wardrobe for 2026
Fall is my season. It's the time of year when I get to bring out the pieces in my closet that make me feel my best (bury me in my outerwear collection).
While I love embracing new trends, my fall capsule wardrobe for 2026 is the foundation for every outfit I build. The beauty of staples is their versatility — you can keep it classic with a blazer, jeans, and your favorite tee, or use them to style a standout piece or a trend you're into (like a ballet sneaker).
Below are the fall wardrobe staples that I'll be wearing on repeat all season, plus over 20 ways to mix and match them.

Staple Tops
Basic Tees
Classic tees in black and white are always one of my most-worn staples year-round. I have the Abercrombie Everyday Tee in almost every color - it's the perfect fit (not too tight or too loose). Another great option at a slightly higher price-point is the COS Clean Cut Tee.
My belief is that you can cheap out on a basic tee, and there's nothing worse than not loving a piece you reach for weekly. Get the one that fits perfectly and feels most you, even if it costs slightly more, because it will one of those pieces constantly popping up in your rotation!
Long Sleeve Crew
For those crisper fall days, a fitted long sleeve is a great staple that can go from basic to polished with a few quick tweaks. I continue to stand by Skims Fits Everybody being the GOAT of this style (I do recommend sizing up 1 size!).
Satin Blouse
Love a satin blouse because it's a great workwear staple that you can also bring into date night or your weekend plans. Quince has great staple blouses that have a little stretch content to them, making them extra comfortable.
Denim Shirt
We love a denim on denim moment, or even a more casual denim-shirt-tailored-pant workwear look. Aritzia's denim shirt in 'Kiss n Tell Blue' is my OG favorite.
White Button-Down
One of those fall wardrobe staples that's just a non-negotiable. J.Crew and GAP have great button-down options!
Crewneck Sweater
Likely one of my most-worn Fall staples day-to-day. Quince carries my all-time favorite oversized crewneck although it could be just a touch too cozy for those early fall months depending on where you live. If you're in a warmer climate, GAP's Oversized Cotton Crewneck is another favorite I have in so many colors.
Cardigan
I've been loving the look of structured cardigans this season, but whatever style you prefer will do just fine! H&M is always my first stop for affordable knitwear, followed by Abercrombie who's already turning out some great cardigan styles this season!
Staple Bottoms, Skirts + Dresses
Classic Denim
Jeans are my love language, and although I wasn't able to get much use out of my favorite pairs of denim during this season of pregnancy, I'm excited to break them back in soon(ish)! AGOLDE, Abercrombie and Madewell denim are always my top choices for fit, feel and quality.
Tailored Pants
If we've learned anything over the last few years, it's that a tailored pant doesn't have to be just a workwear staple! Tailored pants are also a great alternative to jeans dressed down with sneakers. Abercrombie tailored pants are always a top contender.
If you're looking for elevated comfort, Aritzia's Lodge Pants (crepette fabric) have been my most-reached-for over the past few years. You get a beautiful, elevated fabric (bonus points because it's virtually wrinkle-free), paired with the comfort of a stretch waist.
Satin Pants
Silk and satin basics are a fall 2026 trend that I've been loving and a satin pant is another great alternative to jeans or a tailored pant that can easily be dressed up or down. Aritzia's Lodge Pant also comes in a satin finish. I love this because if you own and love the Lodge crepette, you already know the exact fit you're getting, just in a different finish!
Slip Dress
There's so much you can do with a slip dress! Throw on a blazer for work, a sweater for weekends or a leather jacket for date night. Although I usually lean towards more casual with a pant, a great-fitting slip dress is one of those staples you should always have. Plus, who doesn't love the simplicity of being able to grab a dress and not have to think about a full outfit?
Satin Skirt
A satin skirt continues to be one of my must-have fall wardrobe staples for 2026. I always recommend opting for a maxi length and this unexpected Amazon find is a favorite – and so price-friendly.
Staple Outerwear
Blazer
Love a blazer that's a little on the longer and more oversized side. H&M is always my first stop when I'm looking for something new (and affordable).
Trench Coat
The trench is a perfect in-between coat when you want something light and classic, but don't need that heavy outerwear just yet. This Oak + Fort trench is a little on the pricier side, but I'm a big believer in investing once, and wearing forever (I recommend sizing down). If you're looking for a fun trending cropped style, I was so impressed with this Amazon find.
Leather Jacket
This is another one of my non-negotiable fall wardrobe staples for 2026. Zara offers a great mid-price point on faux leather jackets. I invested in this aviator style by DeSavary, which I've had for many years. Also trending for fall 2026 are shaped jackets – think funnel neck styles, cinched waists and belted details.
Suede Jacket
Suede will always be synonymous with fall but I love that it's really moved into the spotlight these past few seasons. Also love Zara for a great mid-price point on suede.
Staple Shoes
Sneakers
What I'm wearing most days. Adidas Samba or Gazelle are two styles I continue to wear weekly (if you're not sure where to start, check out my sizing guides!). Trending for autumn 2026 are low-profile styles like the Adidas Tokyo and the Puma Speedcat, which have a slightly more polished look to them.
Slingbacks
Slingbacks are here to stay and I love that they're a super easy way to update your current heel situation. This comfy Sam Edelman pair is one of my favorites.
Ballet Flats
As long as you can get past your middle school self wearing flats every day, this is a classic, clean trend that has quickly morphed into a staple I think everyone should try this season. I'm especially loving the silhouette of higher-cut flats and modernized square toe styles.
Loafers
Although chunky loafers were in the spotlight for quite a few seasons, the traditional loafer has finally made its way back around. This pair has been one of my favorites and trending for autumn 2026 are softer, less structured loafers – think scrunched/ruched details, bendable construction and even mule-style loafers.
Ankle Boots

If you're feeling like your ankle boots are outdated, try looking for a higher, more fitted shaft and a pointed or square toe. Something as simple as toe shape has the ability to completely update and elevate an outfit.
